Software
There are only a few programs I’ve installed on the desktop. Three emulators, MAME, zsnes and VirtuaNES, and a frontend: Mala.
There’s not much to explain about MAME, zsnes and VirtuaNES, only the fact that I had some problems with saving the high scores on MAME.
I found out there’s a “.dat”-file (hiscore.dat) which makes it possible to save the high scores, but it didn’t work with every version.
Printscreen MAME-games and SNES games in Mala
The frontend Mala is the visualization, so it looks less like a computer and more like an arcade cabinet. The program is adjustable at your own needs but you have to take your time to work everything out.
When you want to have the whole picture to be complete, you need to make sure that Mala will start up by only switching the on-off key. Therefore you have to change some data in the registers of the computer.
What this means is, you want to let the computer start up the Mala-frontend before anything else starts. Even before you see the windows desktop.
Everything you need to hide Windows, I’ve found on https://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Hiding_Windows.
